Stat Tags: Setup, Wear & Troubleshooting
Stat Tags are wearable location devices that power real-time visibility in Stat. Dual IR emitters and a top passthrough window enable up/forward/side coverage, so you see accurate staff and equipment location across the clinic without line-of-sight constraints. Receivers can be placed under room tablets or in ceilings in common areas.
Setup
What You’ll Need
- A Stat account with RTLS enabled
- Receivers installed under tablets and/or in ceilings (as designed for your site)
- Admin access in Stat for provisioning users and assets
Charging
- Connect the provided USB charging cable to a USB port or power adapter.
- Connect the opposite end of the USB cable to the side port on the Stat Tag.
- Charge Stat Tags for 8 hours before first use.
- Single-press the battery button to confirm charge (green = good, yellow = fine, red = charge charge).
Assign a Tag to a user
- Log in to Stat (Admin role).
- Go to Admin → Users.
- Click the user’s name.
- Click Add Badge (or Add Tag).
- Enter the badge number printed on the Stat Tag sticker; click Save.
- Repeat for additional users or keep some Tags unassigned for pooled use.
Assign a Tag to equipment
- Go to Admin → Equipment.
- Click the large + icon at the top right of the screen.
- Add equipment information and click ‘Next’.
- Enter the badge number printed on the Stat Tag sticker; click Save.
Verify coverage
- From a Flowstation, confirm that the provisioned user (or equipment) appears online.
- Perform a quick walk-test through rooms, halls, and common areas to confirm location updates. A functioning Stat Tag will show a new user avatar within the room on tablets and Flowstations.
Wearing guidelines
- Ways to wear: Badge-back or lanyard using top and bottom loops to daisy-chain with existing IDs without covering them, or attach to a retractable clip.
- Placement: Wear on the upper torso for best accuracy. Avoid covering up Stat Tags with thick outerwear, other badges, or using metal badge reels that can obstruct signal.
- Cleaning: Use simple wet wipes or tissues. The minimal seams and smooth housing support fast wipe-downs.
Charging & battery
- Typical life: Multi-week per charge in normal clinical use.
- Charging: USB side port.
- Quick check: Single-press the battery icon — green = full-charge, yellow = charge needed soon, red = charge needed.
Privacy & data
- Location is visible only to authorized roles.
- Data is used for workflow and safety; there is no personal location-monitoring off-site.
Troubleshooting
Tag not appearing
- Confirm it’s charged and provisioned. Move the Stat Tag from room-to-room to rule out room sensor issues.
Inaccurate location
- Check wear position (upper torso, not obstructed).
- Troubleshoot sensors to confirm receivers (tablets/ceilings) are functioning.
Battery drains fast
- Verify a full USB charge completed and that no button is being held inadvertently.
Sensor offline
- Check PoE/power/network for the room sensor.
FAQs
Do Stat Tags work alongside existing Stat beacons?
Yes. Mixed environments are supported.
Are they waterproof?
We don’t recommend extended exposure to water. If Stat Tags get wet, wipe clean with common wipes used in clinical settings.
Can we tag equipment?
Yes. Assign Tags to assets in Admin → Equipment.
What about visitors or temps?
Use pooled Tags with a simple kiosk checkout or assign to temporary user profiles.
